Expanding the View and Elevating Outdoor Living — The Valden Project in Cypress, TX

Located in the Wildwood at Oakcrest community in Cypress, Texas, the Valden Project is a perfect example of how thoughtful design and expert construction can completely transform a backyard into a functional and elevated outdoor living space.

One of the most impactful elements of this project was the structural upgrade. We removed an existing load-bearing column and installed a fully engineered beam to span the entire distance. This allowed us to create a completely unobstructed view across the patio and pool area, opening up the space and enhancing both the look and the overall flow.

The scope of this project included a custom pool, extended patio, outdoor kitchen, and additional enclosed spaces. The patio measures 30 by 16 feet, paired with an 18-foot outdoor kitchen designed for entertaining. We also added an 8 by 8 bathroom and an 8 by 8 storage room to bring both convenience and functionality to the space. The pool itself spans 18 by 48 feet, offering plenty of room for relaxation and recreation.

Design details played a major role in bringing this space to life. The pool decking features travertine for a clean and timeless look, complemented by glass mosaic waterline tile. Raised walls finished with split-face travertine add depth and dimension, while eyelid planters and raised planter bowls introduce a custom landscape element. The outdoor kitchen is finished with Texas blend stack stone and granite countertops, and the surrounding structures incorporate board and batten siding for a cohesive, high-end finish.

The entire project was completed in just seven weeks, showcasing both efficiency and attention to detail. The result is a seamless blend of structure, design, and functionality that enhances the way this family uses their outdoor space.

Projects like the Valden build reflect what Cypress Southern Homes does best. We take existing spaces, remove limitations, and create something that feels open, intentional, and built to last.
