Costa Rican Inspiration Meets Texas Craftsmanship: The Vail Pool Project

In the heart of Cypress, Texas, Cypress Southern Homes took on an exciting backyard transformation: designing and building a custom pool and patio that channeled tropical resort vibes while prioritizing functional outdoor fun. The Vail family had one key request: maximize their backyard space and create an oasis where volleyball games and relaxation could coexist. With a vision rooted in Costa Rican design, this project was anything but ordinary.

From the start, the homeowners wanted standout features, and we delivered. A rain curtain waterfall, built-in pool dining, floating steps, and a natural granite stone fireplace brought the “wow factor” at every turn. A grotto, custom stone bench seating under a pergola, and striking glass mosaic waterline tile elevated the entire space.

The journey wasn’t without surprises. Hurricane Beryl hit mid-project, but thanks to our build quality and proactive planning, everything held strong even during framing and tilework. This unexpected test became a testament to the strength of our construction methods and the care we put into each phase.

From start to finish, the project wrapped in just eight weeks. One of our favorite elements was the use of premium stone materials rarely seen in Texas, including the dramatic fireplace and seating. These luxury touches made the space truly one of a kind.

The client’s reaction said it all: “WOW!!” Not only did we bring their vision to life, but the project led to four new referrals, a reflection of Brent’s commitment to clear communication, responsiveness, and quality control throughout the process.

This project is a perfect example of what we love to do most. We design and build incredible outdoor spaces that feel like an escape. If you’re dreaming of your own backyard retreat, this is your sign to get started.
