Country Roots, Custom Touches: The Chang Home in Hallettsville, TX

Nestled in the quiet countryside of Hallettsville, Texas, the Chang Custom Home is a beautiful example of how thoughtful design can bring a client’s lifestyle to life from the ground up. When the Chang family approached Cypress Southern Homes, they had one clear goal: to build a home that fully reflected their love for country living.

With a rural backdrop and a focus on simplicity, the design incorporated board and batten siding, standing seam metal roofing, and cedar-wrapped beams and posts that added warmth and authenticity to the exterior. These timeless materials give the home a refined farmhouse feel that’s both charming and durable.

While building in the country came with its own challenges, especially related to travel, sourcing materials, and coordinating trades, our team worked through every obstacle with commitment and flexibility. The project began in April and is on track to be completed in August, right on schedule.

This isn’t our first time working with the Changs. In fact, our relationship started when Brent was referred to them by an investor client. After successfully completing a barn with a mother-in-law suite, the Changs asked us to take on their custom home as well. Proof that trust, transparency, and results lead to lasting client relationships.

While we’re proud of the quality and craftsmanship in every square foot of this custom build, projects like this one also help us reflect on what we love most. We’re passionate about building beautiful homes, and we’re especially energized by patios, pools, and outdoor living spaces that bring families together and create lasting memories.

Stay tuned for the final reveal in August. If you’re dreaming of your own countryside retreat, we’d love to talk about how to bring it to life.
